Parent Council
Kirkcudbright Academy Parent Council has been established in accordance with the regulations introduced by the Secretary of State. It has provision for 8 parent members, 1 teacher member and 5 co-opted members. Its basic duties and functions include:

. keeping in touch with parents' views and reporting to parents
. encouraging links between the school and parents
. receiving reports from the head teacher and the education authority, and making representations to them
. taking part in the appointment of senior staff in the school
. approving the Rector's plans for buying books and materials
. helping to set dates for occasional holidays and arranging the use of the school outwith normal hours.

The Parent Council has an active Fundraising Group who hold events throughout the year. Any parent willing to help at such events should contact the Board.
