Having 'got the ski bug' quite badly in Clavier in 2003, we decided very quickly that it would be fun to organise another ski-ing holiday for Academy pupils as soon as possible.
Two years later and we are on our way. High up in the Dolomite region of Italy Passo Tonale is situated on the mountain pass at the head of the Val Vermiglio. With an altitude of over 1,800 metres there is a guarantee of snow almost all year round. This resort is a popular site with Italians, being only a couple of hours drive from Milan , and offer great wide slopes ideal for beginners and snowborders! - whilst the more experienced skiers can enjoy hairy black runs on the glacier and a 4.5km decent on ungroomed pistes from the top of the Valbilio chair all the way down to the village.
39 pupils and nine adults will be taking over a small family run hotel for the week - three delicious meals of traditional Italian food should ensure that we all have enough energy and enthusiasm for a good days skiing followed by an evening packed with entertainment from discos to swimming, snowshoe walking and toboggan races.
